Journeyman League - Durgen Madhammer vs. Lylyth

Adrian and I finally faced off for our first battle box game last night and it was a SLOG!  It was a 4 1/2 hr game on Vassal that would not end!  We both played hard and there were some close calls on both sides.  Adrian began with a rush up the table, spreading out his Shredders and keeping his Carnivean within close proximity to Lylyth.  Then I moved everything to the left, hoping to set up some charge lanes for future turns..and stay out of reach of the Carnivean.
Second turn, Lylyth rushed up the centre of the table with the Carnivean and his Shredders ran up all the flanks.  Mercs second turn, Durgen popped his feat and dropped a carpet bomb on Lylyth, scoring a hit with 6 damage and then missing completely with the other 2 AOE's, one of which put some damage on the Carnivean.  Then my Blaster went for some spray damage on Lylyth, hitting 2 Shredders as well.  Sadly, no damage to Lylyth.  Then my Basher redlined for a Grand Slam attack on Lylyth and then followed up, leaving her with only one hit point left.  The other Basher Grand Slammed the Carnivean put 8 damage on him.
Third turn, Lylyth attempted a melee attack against my Basher, and scored no damage.  Then the Carnivean took a free strike from one Basher to attack the Basher in melee with Lylyth.  He scored multiple hits with all of his melee insanity and destroyed the Basher.  Then the Shredders blocked up charge lanes, engaged the Blaster and one ran up to just outside of Durgen's melee range.  Turn three for mercs was a lot of sad dice rolling.  Durgen attempted to Carpet Bomb Lylyth again, coming up short and missing everything on the table.  Then the Blaster took a free strike from the Shredder to take a shot at Lylyth and he missed.  Then the Basher activated and walked around the the back of the Carnivean, taking a free strike from a Shredder, to attempt a melee attack on Lylyth.  Sadly, he came up short and only hit her with a boosted pow 6 from Flak Field... which also failed.
Fourth turn, Lylyth took a shot at Durgen and hit, doing some minor damage, but granting free charges to his battle group.  This lead to 3 charges from his Shredders which finished Durgen off nicely.  Great game Adrian!  That was intense!
